Iraqi President Mourns the Passing of the Poet Alfred Sam'an


President of the Republic of Iraq, Barham Salih sent a cable of condolences and sympathies to the cultural community and to the family of the great poet, Alfred Sam'an who passed away, Tuesday, January 5, 2021.
The text of the condolences follows:
" With patient hearts and believing in the death, we have learned and stunned by the tragic news about the passing of one of Iraqi great poets, Alfred Sam'an, after a long march which is full of creativity, in which he was one of the most prominent contributors in the field of poetry in Iraq. His poetic activity was a national voice, and gave expression to Iraqis' concerns.
With his passing, Iraq and the cultural community have lost one of the cornerstone of poetry.
I express condolences to the Iraqi people and to the cultural community over the demise of the great poet, Alfred Sam'an.
We pray to the Almighty for the late Poet's eternal rest in peace, and for inspiring his family and his loved ones the patience and solace.
