President Masum Attends the funeral of President Jalal Talabani

H.E. Dr. Fuad Masum the President of the Republic attended a funeral on the spirit of the late Jalal Talabani the former Iraqi President, who held by the Presidency of the Republic, today Monday afternoon October 9, 2017, which was attended by Mr. Salim al-Jubouri the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nuri al-Maliki and Osama al-Nujaifi the Vice-Presidents of the Republic, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Interior Minister Mr. Qassem al-Araji as the representative of Dr. Haider al-Abadi the Prime Minister, and a number of ministers, as well as a number of members of the House of Representatives and a large number of political, heads of Arab and international diplomatic missions and bodies accredited to Iraq, and the Secretary General of the Socialist International, Mr. Luis Ayala, attended the funeral.
Dr. Mohsen Abdul Hamid, the national character, spoke about the honorable stages of the struggle history and the political role of the late President in combating dictatorship and the freedom of the Iraqi people, as well as his efforts to consolidate the values of democracy and preserve the unity of the Iraqi people in all components.
At the end of the funeral, the Minister of Culture and Information, on behalf of President Masum, thanked all the political, social and diplomatic figures who participated in offering the condolences in this tragic event. Praying to Allah to grant the deceased with His mercy and forgiveness and to protect Iraq and its people.
