President Salih: The Martyr of the Shahed Mihrab was a Nationalist Symbol and a Distinguished Figure to the History of Heroism

2019/03/09

President Barham Salih stressed that His Eminence Ayatollah Mohammed Baqir al-Hakim is a great nationalist symbol and a distinguished scientific and figure for a history of heroism and the genuine Iraqi spirit who paved the way for an Iraq that is free of tyranny.
In a speech at a ceremony commemorating the martyrdom of his Eminence Ayatollah, Mohammad Baqir al-Hakim, and the Iraqi Martyr Day, which was held on Saturday March 9, 2019, at the headquarters of the Head of the Reform and Reconstruction Coalition, His Excellency said: "the martyr had taken the path of the right in the face of tyranny, arbitrariness and annihilation, at the time the Iraqis were facing the most brutal and humiliating regimes".
“By his assassination, the criminal murderers wanted to undermine this confidence and the Iraqi national will, but they were disappointed. There are men who got martyrdom to foment our enthusiasm for advancement and progress forward," the President indicated.
President Salih saluted the heroisms presented by Iraq from the Army, the Police, the Popular Mobilization, the Peshmerga, the sons of free tribes, and various citizens in liberating cities from terrorism.

In the name of Allah the Merciful
Of the believers are men who are true to that which they covenanted with Allah. Some of them have paid their vow by death (in battle), and some of them still are waiting; and they have not altered in the least;
Great truth of God
Peace, mercy and blessings of God
Today we stand on the anniversary of martyrdom of His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Mohammed Baqir al-Hakim (God bless his soul), we stand in front of a great nationalist symbol and a distinguished scholar and martyrdom figure. We are before a symbol of history of the heroism and a genuine Iraqi spirit, a history of devotion to the noble values that paved the way towards an Iraq that is free of tyranny.
Personally, I cannot speak in this painful anniversary without standing with reverence and sympathy for what the martyr had embodied of altruism for the sake of right and the support for those oppressed and deprived.
He had taken the path of the right in the face of tyranny, arbitrariness, and annihilation at the time when the Iraqis were facing the most brutal and abusive regime.
The martyr has embarked on the path of struggle, firmly believing in the future of Iraq as a free country and a homeland that combines its ethnic, religious and sectarian components.
I remember with honor and pride my meeting with the Martyr and my work with him and with his two companions Mam Jalal and Aziz of Iraq. I have learned perseverance and determination to realize the truth and optimism in the future from His Eminence the Martyr. This is how I have known the martyr, encouraged and motivated to always look forward for hope, courage and confidence towards the future, the future of an Iraq that is at peace with itself and in security with its neighbors.
In the darkest and most difficult circumstances, for the martyr, this spirit was always superior to setbacks.
There is a confidence in a free future, during the conflict with the dictatorship, and then confidence in the future of peace, building and progress, in the face of the challenges beyond 2003.
Always, in the midst of difficulties, the Sayyid was an inspiring and a catalyst source for joint action.
It was of his courage that he always remained at the forefront of ranks proceeding with challenge and resistance until his martyrdom was a good example of expressing that courage and confident and forward-looking spirit when he was targeted and martyred at the height of the challenge and action for a new Iraq.
The murderous criminals wanted to undermine this confidence and the Iraqi patriotic will. Their suspicions were disappointed.
There are men who martyred to foment our enthusiasm for advancement and progress forward.
The martyrdom, which was inherited by Sayyid al-Shaheed, from a long and ancient history, and a noble and dignified family who gave Iraq honorable martyrs and great scientific and religious figures, was an incentive for seeking to build a future of peace and freedom.
So we advanced as Iraqis seeking for a better future for Iraq and its people, thus we were inspired by martyrdom the lesson and exhortation.
The history of murder, intimidation and oppression cannot be ended unless by the will of peace, courage and freedom.
The great sincerity to the great martyr and to all the martyrs of Iraq is to continue the path tirelessly, for Iraq, for democracy, and for peace.
On this painful and inspiring anniversary, we have but the sincerity to the owner of the fragrant anniversary and to all martyrs of Iraq, the martyrs of struggle against the dictatorship, and the martyrs of the heroism resisting against terrorism, which has liberated the land, cities and villages by their blood and scapegoated Iraq and Iraqis with their lives.
These heroisms offered by Iraq from the army, the police, the Popular Mobilization, the Peshmerga, the sons of the free tribes and the various citizens on the altar of freedom and dignity have inspire me to conclude with what Mam Jalal recalls in the memory of his companion, the Martyr of the Mihrab, of verses from the poetry of Al-Jawahiri:
I still Last and ages of the tyrants are short
From the Book of Your glory, spreading fragrance with illusion
And glory to make your whole life as a gift
People do not die
Glory is that your glory alone protects you
Inside the people .. no condition nor supporters
Glory and brightness ...
