The President Affirms Iraq's Keenness for Strengthening Cooperation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

President Barham Salih confirmed that Iraq is keen for enhancing prospects for economic and commercial cooperation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the benefit of the two brotherly peoples.
His Excellency received Mr. Majid Al-Qasabi, the Saudi Minister of Commerce and Investment and his accompanying delegation, at the Presidential Office in Baghdad on Thursday, March 14, 2019.
President Salih indicated that Iraq seeks to create a system of common economic interests with the Kingdom and the countries of the region in general. 
The President stressed that Baghdad looks forward to be an arena for convergence of the interests of brothers and friends in a manner that achieves prosperity and progress for the peoples of the region.
His Excellency added that Iraq seeks for convergence of viewpoints among the countries of the region to achieve stability and steer clear of absurd disputes and conflicts.
President Barham Salih commended the Kingdom's keenness for openness towards Iraq and its keen efforts to strengthen bonds of fraternal brotherhood between the two brotherly peoples.
For his part, Mr. Al-Qasabi expressed his country’s desire to expand the horizons of economic cooperation and facilitate the process of trade exchange by initiating and activating the border crossings as well as through strengthening the partnership between the two countries.
During the meeting, they conferred about bilateral relations and prospects for their development in a way that serves the interest of the two brotherly countries. 
Mr. Mohammed Hashim al-Ani the Minister of Commerce and a number of officials attended the meeting too.
