President Receives German Minister of Defense

President Salih welcomed the German Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer and her delegation to the Presidential Office in Baghdad today. 
His Excellency highlighted the importance of unified regional and international efforts to combat global terrorism. The President stressed the need to reduce tensions in the region and adopt sustained and serious efforts at dialogue to end various crises.
President Salih added that Iraq is keen to enhance and develop relations with the Federal Republic of Germany in all appropriate fields and in ways conducive to the advancement of common interests.
His Excellency valued Germany's role within the international coalition against terrorism and its support for Iraq for reconstruction efforts, as well as Germany’s work in the repatriation of the internally displaced people across the country.
President Salih noted the need to broaden military cooperation with E.U. countries to strengthen Iraqi security forces’ capabilities, and expressed interest in doing so. 
Karrenbauer confirmed her country's support for Iraq’s stability and unity. She lauded various triumphs achieved by the Iraqi forces against the ISIS terrorist group.
The Defense Minister reiterated her country’s strong interest in expanding cooperation with Iraq at all levels.

Presedent
