President, Welcoming the Egyptian Foreign Minister, Receives a Letter from President el-Sisi


President Salih welcomed Mr. Sameh Shoukry, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt into the Presidential Office in Baghdad today.
Mr. Shoukry delivered a letter from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi concerning Egypt's water rights in the Renaissance Dam, and regional and international developments as part of the continuous coordination and consultation between the two brotherly countries.
"Strengthening bilateral relations and fraternal bonds as well as the keenness to expand horizons of cooperation between Iraq and Egypt in a variety of fields is of critical importance," His Excellency noted.
"Iraq supports the Arab Republic of Egypt in its endeavor to protect its water rights on the issue of the Renaissance Dam on the basis of international law, and in a way that would not detriment Egypt's interests and its water security," the President emphasized.
President Salih stressed that joint coordination between brotherly and friendly countries in the field of combating terrorism and drying up its sources is necessary notably if they were done in ways that contribute to promoting security, stability and peace in the region.
His Excellency asked the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs to convey his greetings to his brother, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, as well as his wishes for the Egyptian people to further progress and prosperity.
Mr. Sameh Shoukry conveyed the Egyptian President’s greetings to President Salih and el-Sisi's wishes for the Iraqi people to stability and safety. He emphasized that Egypt stands by Iraq, as well as his country's keen desire to continue developing bilateral relations and increasing the volume of cooperation and constructive consultation in ways that serve the common interests.
