President Meets Minister of Justice, Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers


President Salih welcomed today at the Baghdad Palace, Justice Minister, Mr. Salar Abdul Sattar and Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, Mr. Hamid Al-Ghazzi.
The President believes that it is of fundamental importance to resolve the cases files of the arrested demonstrators as well as those who had non- been convicted of a crime of assaulting public or private property should be released.
It is necessary to apply human rights standards in detention centers and arrest houses in addition to speedily conclude the investigation into the cases of the remaining detainees, notably at the amid of the spread of the novel coronavirus, he confirmed
The President emphasized the need to facilitate procedures for the citizens having transactions with the State departments affecting their daily lives away from the routine so as to safeguard their rights and establish principles of justice.
The discussions at the meeting covered the Ministry's efforts in cooperation with the General Secretariat for the Council of Ministers to complete the draft amnesty law on certain groups of detainees.  
Moreover, the Ministry's plans to advance the work of reform constituencies, the notaries public and to maintain minors' property have also been focused.
