PRESIDENT, IN THE CENTENARY ANNIVERSARY OF THE TWENTIETH REVOLUTION: IT IS A SOURCE OF INSPIRATION THROUGH LESSONS LEARNED AND CONSOLIDATION OF PATRIOTIC VALUES

2020/07/01

President Barham Salih affirmed that the twentieth revolution was and still in its memory, a source inspiration for the Iraqi people through the lessons learned that the Iraqis take back in a way that enhances in them the true values of patriotism.
His Excellency said in a statement released today, Tuesday, June  30th 2020, on the occasion of the centenary of the twentieth revolution," Today we celebrate the centenary of the revolution, and at this moment we  fondly recall the sacrifices of the righteous martyrs and the values offered by the founding builders as well as the values and roles established by the scientific, cultural, religious and social elites that are still vibrantly alive in in the minds  of their people and their long national history.”
The President indicated that the centenary celebration is a celebration of 100 years of modern Iraq with its long and intertwined history, with its accomplishments and influential role at the local and at the regional level, and its failures together as there are unfortunately also tyranny, violence, genocide, discrimination, corruption and wars.
President Salih stressed the need to move forward to resume what has been cut off in the process of building a capable and fully sovereign state capable of imposing law and fighting corruption and protecting the citizen’s right to free and dignified life, a country that serves its people and in peace and security with its people and with its neighbors.
The following is the text of the statement:
"We proudly remember these days the centenary of the twentieth revolution, in which the will of the Iraqis, with all their different sects and components, united for the sake of the country's sovereignty, freedom, and the building of its modern independent state.
One hundred years after the revolution, we derive determination from our people, the maker of the revolution, and are inspired by the will of the pioneering revolutionaries to build a free and dignified state.
The revolution of the twentieth and its memory was still a source of inspiration for the Iraqi people in the lessons learned that the Iraqis take back while establishing the true values of patriotism for them.
The revolution of the twentieth was a guiding light for the beginnings of forming the Iraqi state, and it was a basic station in forming the national awareness that is keen on the independence of Iraq and is aware of the value of a free and independent country.
Let the anniversary of the revolution be an occasion to enhance the free and ambitious national will to take into account the interests of Iraq and the dignity of Iraqis in its relations with his surroundings and in the international community as a whole and to rely on the authority of the state and its sovereign decision.
The revolution was an example of national solidarity and popular synergy to express the people's vision of what the Iraqi state should be, a free, independent and confident state in its relentless pursuit of building, development and progress.
Today we celebrate the centenary of the revolution, and at this moment we fondly recall the sacrifices of the righteous martyrs and the values offered by the founding builders and the values and roles established by the scientific, cultural, religious and social elites that are still alive in the awareness of their people and their ancient national history.
the centenary celebration is a celebration of 100 years of modern Iraq with its long and intertwined history, with its accomplishments and its influential role in the local at the regional level, and its failures together, there are unfortunately also tyranny, violence, genocide, discrimination, corruption and wars.
This holds us all responsible for moving forward to resume what has been lost in the process of building a capable, fully sovereign state capable of imposing law, fighting corruption and protecting the citizen's right to a free and dignified life.
It will be a state based on the constitution and prevent the emergence of tyranny, a state that serves its people in peace and security with its people and with its neighbors, a country that treats the world and the region as friendly countries, neither enemy nor controlling, a state that controls weaponry the outside of the law and where the law is the judge.
Let the anniversary of the twentieth revolution be a living occasion for renewing the vitality of our unity and solidarity in facing the coronavirus pandemic through our solidarity, increasing health awareness and adhering to health and safety measures.
Let the revolution of the twentieth also be a starting point for strengthening the elevation of our country and the dignity of our people and good relations with friends and neighbors of Iraq on the principles of common interests of peoples and respect for the sovereignty and independence of countries and the consolidation of the principles of peace, cooperation and love among all.
Glory to the revolution and the revolutionaries ...
The elevation to a free, independent Iraq...
The immortality and the elevation of the martyrs of Iraq...
