President Receives Finnish Foreign Minister, Haavisto


President Salih welcomed today at the Baghdad Palace Minister for Foreign Affairs of Finland Pekka Haavisto alongside with his delegation.
The President stressed the importance of strengthening friendly relations and cooperation with Finland across all fields in the interests of the two concerned states.
However, he noted that Iraqi foreign relation is based on the principle of balance as well as adopting an equally neutral policy with all states in a way that maintains its sovereignty and stability
It is essential for all parties to work jointly in order to establish regional stability and security, he added.
Furthermore, the President said that there is earnest desire of Iraq for continuing international efforts in the fight against terrorism.
 Therefore, he believes that there is a need to dry up sources of terrorism and its financial resources for international peace and security to be prevailed.
However, the international community's efforts need to be made to confront and halt the spread of COVID-19 to ensure the safety of all peoples, the President underlined.
Finland's Haavisto, in turn, expressed his country's commitment to consolidating the frameworks of joint cooperation with Iraq in all fields, and highlighted the depth of Iraqi-Finnish ties.
Moreover, it is essential to raise the bilateral relations to the most advanced scale, he said.
