President Receives Head of Iraq's Border Ports Authority


President Salih met today in Baghdad with the Head of Iraq's Border Ports Authority, Omar Al-Waeli.
The President underlined that it is essential to support the State budget from government revenue taken from border-crossing points in addition to developing resources through increasing control procedures and scrutiny.
Therefore, internationally adopted methods need to be used at the border-crossing points, thereby contributing to the further commercial exchange, he added.
His Excellency the President stated that it is necessary to tighten control on import and export operations at border- crossing points, to standardize the work of border entry points' mechanisms.  
He, however, said that all forms of corruption should be fought by implementing enacted laws and regulations of Iraq's Border Ports Authority as well as enhancing measures for the protection of domestic products.
Mr. Al-Waeli, in turn, explained the efforts of Iraq's Border Ports Authority aiming to raise the state revenues, improving infrastructure as well as coordinating with the relevant bodies to facilitate services to the passengers and to the individuals whose are having commercial activities.
