President, Hosting Luncheon in Honour of French President, Says that Iraqis Insist on Building Safer and Stable Iraq


President Salih hosted today at the Baghdad Palace a luncheon in the honour of French President Emmanuel Macron and the delegation accompanying him.
The President, during the luncheon which was attended by Speaker of Parliament Muhammad Al-Halbousi, PM Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, Head of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faiq Zaidan, Head of the Federal Supreme Court, Judge Medhat Al-Mahmoud, President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, as well as high-ranking officials of the two sides, stated that it is an important event for us as Iraqis. We are gathering here today to welcome our dear guest French President Emmanuel Macron. We underscore the importance of Iraqi- French relations as we look forward to enhancing them.
The President highlighted that the visit is a message of attention which means that consideration needs to be given to Iraq. Therefore, we highly appreciate this visit.
 He wished that Macron's visit would produce effective and good results to enhance the interests of the two friendly peoples.
His Excellency stated that however, the main purpose is that Iraq in near future would be a point of cooperation and inclusion rather than division, for all regional and international states and not to be a battleground for various political agendas. He added that Iraqis insist on building a safer and stable Iraq.
Furthermore, he emphasized that our vision for our national interests are based on the protection of Iraq's sovereignty and its stability; and on our attitudes which are based on distancing Iraq from axes policy; as well as on working jointly with all to consolidate peace and to bring progress and development of the peoples.
"We are pleased with what we heard from President Macron about France's readiness to deal with and support Iraq in addressing the political, security and economic challenges. In particularly Paris has always been a vital economic partner with Iraq in various areas as well as cooperation and coordination in the reconstruction of liberated areas." the President said.
President Macron, in turn, expressed gratitude to the President Salih for his warm welcome and the generous hospitality. He stressed France's commitment to developing the friendly ties and cooperation with Iraq in the ways that serve the interests of the two friendly countries, and realize peoples' aspirations for having social and economic well-being and more stable life.
