President Issues Statement on Third Anniversary of Passing of Former Iraqi President, Jalal Talabani

President Salih issued today a statement on the third anniversary of the passing of former Iraqi President Mam Jalal Talabani, may he rest in peace.

The text of statement is as follows:
" Three years have elapsed since the great national leader, Mam Jalal died, and we recall his feats, his bright ideas and the wisdom of this great master. No matter how many years go by as his experience and wisdom will always remain a source of inspiration for us.
The loyalty and fulfillment to Mam Jalal's approach, above all, is to respect for the political culture that he has given his whole life for, as well as standing up the principles and guidelines that he left behind. He fought against oppression to protect the rights of Kurdish people and liberate Iraq from the dictatorship.
Today, in the midst of crises in Iraq and in the Kurdistan region, we find ourselves in the most urgent need to the Former President's principles to speak with one voice, put aside differences and bring positions together, which would overcome crises with having joint responsibility to serve all citizens.
On this occasion, I stress that the political legacy of Leader Mam Jalal is too great to be placed in the framework of narrow partisan advantage for being an important part of our country's political history. He, therefore, became a role model and a symbol of struggle in every sense of the word.
Commemorating his third anniversary of the passing of Mam Jalal, we pray to the Almighty for his pure soul to rest in peace, particularly since he dedicated his life to serve his people and his country.
