President Welcomes US Ambassador to Iraq


President Salih met today at the Baghdad Palace with American Ambassador to Iraq Mr. Matthew Tueller.
The President wished US President Donald Trump and Melania Trump a fast recovery after their Coronavirus diagnoses.
It is essential to cooperate with the international community to address pandemic and reduce the spread of its infection, he said.
 The President and the US Ambassador jointly discussed the relations between the two countries, broadening the scope of cooperation across all field, within the framework of the strategic dialogue in addition to enhancing cooperation with the international community in facing the security and health challenges and coordinating the collective efforts of the international community to respond to the coronavirus.
They reviewed the recent developments of the situations in Iraq and the region as well.
The two sides underlined that there is a need to support the government's actions aiming at protecting diplomatic missions and consolidating State authority to achieve security and stability.
So that they do believe that it is essential to use dialogue to de-escalate tensions in the ways which would bring peace and security in the region and help to find common ground in the areas of developments and progress.
Mr. Tueller, in turn, reaffirmed his country's commitment to supporting Iraq's stability and boosting the bilateral relations between the two countries across all fields.
