2020/10/08

On the occasion of commemorating the Arbaeen mourning ceremonies of Imam Hussein Bin Ali (peace be upon them), President Salih said that the revolution of reform and change against injustice and oppression is inevitable; no matter how costly the sacrifices might be.
This immortal commemoration calls for inspiring noble values and to be a path of reform and change that are needed to build a capable State having full sovereignty, able to serve its people and achieve their aspirations in building a prosperous future.
He added that our efforts should be directed at fighting corruption that deprived Iraqis from enjoying their country's resources for many years.
The letter of condolences is as follows:
" On this lasting historic occasion, Arbaeen mourning ceremonies of the Imam Hussein (Peace be upon him), I express my sincere condolences to Iraqis, the Islamic nation and to the supreme authority in Najaf.
Commemorating Arbaeen, which is the 40 days after the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), we remember the revolution of the social justice which is a revolution of reform and change against injustice and oppression.
Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and his small group of family members and companions (peace be upon them), who sacrificed their lives to defend values of human dignity and justice, gave us lessons in sacrificing.
It also reminds us, throughout the age that the revolution of reform and change against injustice and oppression is inevitable; no matter how costly the sacrifices might be.
On this lasting historic occasion, we have to inspire noble values, and take it as a path of reform and change that are needed to build a capable State having full sovereignty, able to serve its people and achieve their aspirations in building a prosperous future.
Therefore, our efforts should be directed at fighting corruption that deprived Iraqis from enjoying their country's resources for many years.
Saluting the huge crowds of Pilgrims marching to Karbala to commemorate Arbaeen, I stressed the need to take action to protect Pilgrims from being affected by the coronavirus. I underscore the importance of respecting religious rites as I pray to the Almighty for saving all Pilgrims including Iraqis.
I give my thanks to our armed forces, all security agencies of the State and the volunteers those who left their houses and their families to serve the Pilgrims coming from everywhere.
Therefore, these great efforts played a major role to success this great march that is immortal in the hearts of all Iraqis.
Peace, mercy and blessing of Allah be upon all of you.
Barham Salih,
President of the Republic."
