President Salih received today in Baghdad the Patriarch of the Chaldean Catholic Church, His Beatitude Cardinal Mar Louis Raphael I Sako.
The President hailed the role played by the people of Christian faith in the country, their participation in addressing the various challenges that the country faced throughout the ages, their adherence to their national identity as well as their resistance in fighting terror just like other segments of Iraqi society.
Furthermore, he stressed the need to return all Christian displaced persons to their places of residences in the Nineveh Plains, Mosul and other cities.
To these ends, every effort should, therefore, be made. And it is essential to ensure that they will take part in the political, economic, social and cultural life in a way that makes their voices and demands to be heard, he added.
His Beatitude Cardinal Mar Louis Raphael I Sako, in turn, expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to the President for his following up, supporting the people of Christian faith in Iraq as well as for his contribution to resolving many issues and removing obstacles that they faced over the past years.
