Iraqi President meets Pakistan's Minister For Defense Production: International Cooperation is Needed To Face Global and Regional Challenges of Extremism and Terrorism


On Tuesday, January 26, 2021, the President of the Republic of Iraq, Barham Salih, met with Zubaida Jalal, Pakistan's Minister For Defense Production and her delegation. The meeting took place at Al Salam Palace in Baghdad.
President Salih spoke of the importance of promoting bilateral cooperation between Iraq and Pakistan in the defense sector. Both countries would benefit from the shared expertise of their military institutions, he said, and Iraq would develop the capacities of its own armed forces.
International cooperation was needed in order to face the global and regional challenges presented by extremism and terrorism, President Salih noted. International cooperation was also necessary in order to deal with the escalation of tensions that impact international security and stability.
Minister Jalal confirmed Pakistan's commitments to Iraq in the development of the two countries' bilateral relations and in military cooperation, including the training and further development of Iraqi armed forces.
