Iraqi President receives Jordanian Prime Minister: Advance Bilateral Interests to serve Our Peoples' Interests

On Thursday, January 28, 2021, the President of the Republic of Iraq, Barham Salih, met with the Prime Minister of Jordan, Bisher al-Khasawneh. The meeting was held at the Al Salam palace in Baghdad and was also attended by the foreign ministers of Iraq and Jordan. 

Prime Minister al-Khasawneh first conveyed greetings from the Jordanian monarch, King Abdullah II, to President Salih. He also delivered a written message for the Iraqi President from his king.  President Salih also passed on greetings from Iraq to King Abdullah II. 

During the meeting, bilateral relations between the two countries were discussed. President Salih confirmed Iraq's enthusiasm to advance these in all sectors and to promote further agreements and understandings between Iraq and Jordan, that would best serve the interests of the people of both nations. 

President Salih also spoke about the importance of ongoing cooperation between Iraq, Jordan and Egypt, in order to advance common interests, confront the challenges of terrorism and extremism, reduce regional tensions and promote peace and stability in the Middle East.
