Iraqi President Receives Kurdistan Region Delegation

On Monday, February 15, 2021, the President of the Republic of Iraq, Barham Salih met with the delegation from Kurdistan Region headed by, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Qubad Talabani. The Deputy Speaker of Iraqi Parliament, Bashir al-Haddad attended the meeting alongside Iraq's Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein.
  The importance of strengthening efforts and dialogues to find radical solutions to the unresolved issues between the Kurdistan Region Government (KRG) and the Federal Government were discussed. The meeting placed emphasis on the importance of sharing the federal budget for 2021, while stressing the need to ensure the rights of all citizens, and people's interest.  Participants agreed that people's livelihood and their rights must not be a political football.
We should find a common ground for a positive dialogue that will reach a solution to the lingering issues according to the Iraqi constitution in a manner that serves all citizens' interests, the President said, the issues of public sector salaries alongside other financial issues must be resolved in way that ensures the rights of all Iraqi citizens, including employees, retired persons, either they belong to the Federal Government or to the KRG.
