Iraqi President Calls the New Iraqi Parliament to Be Convened
The President of the Republic of
Iraq Barham Salih issued a presidential decree on Thursday, December 30, 2021,
calling upon Iraq's new parliament to be held on Sunday, January 9, 2022, preparing
the way for lawmakers to put a new government in place.
In a tweet on his official Twitter
account, President Salih said that " I have singed the Presidential decree
to call the new Iraqi parliament to be held on Sunday, January 9, 2022.
It is hoped that the national tasks would be carried
out, and a capable and functional government that is able to protect the country's
interests, strengthen its sovereignty and deliver a better service for
its citizens would be
formed.
To this end, we have to step up
our collective efforts and act together to seriously pursue the needed reforms
in a stable and prosperous Iraq."
