Iraqi President: A secure and stable Iraq is of critical importance for achieving security and stability in the region

On Wednesday, January 5, 2021, the President of the Republic of Iraq, Barham Salih met with the British Ambassador to Iraq, Mark Bryson-Richardson. The meeting was held at al-Salam Palace in Baghdad.

During the meeting, Iraqi-British ties were discussed. President Salih and the UK ambassador discussed how best to strengthen their nations’ ties across all sectors in ways that best serve the interests of both peoples.

Talks focused on the need to further enhance the cooperation and coordination between the two countries in ways that would serve local and regional peace and stability.

President Salih emphasized how important it was to maintain security and stability in the region and work towards calming tensions there, with a focus on the need to have further dialogue.

The central role that could be played by Iraq in the region, Mr Salih placed emphasis, noting that a secure, stable and sovereign Iraq is of critical importance for bringing security and stability in the region.
