Iraqi President Salih: Pressure on the remaining cells of terrorists should be maintained while any flaws in the security system should be addressed

On Monday, May 9, 2022, the President of the Republic of Iraq, Barham Salih met with the Iraqi Defense Minister, Juam Inad. The meeting was held at al-Salam Palace in Baghdad.
Recent security developments related to matters in Iraq were discussed during the meeting, with a focus on the need to support the efforts made by the Iraqi armed forces to continue fighting against the remaining cells of the extremist group known as the Islamic State (IS).

 Meeting participants spoke about current military operations being carried out by the Iraq troops in the front lines against the remaining cells of the extremist, IS, trying to threaten peace, security and stability in some parts of Iraq.

 We must be vigilant against the terrorism, President Salih said while emphasizing that any flaws in the security system which would strengthen these cells to threaten Iraqi citizens' lives and the safety and stability of their towns must be addressed.

 President Salih commended the efforts made by the Iraqi security forces to dismantle the terrorist cells and arrest some of the prominent terrorists.

The President emphasized how important it was to maintain pressure on the extremist group known as the Islamic State (IS) and work toward supporting Iraqi troops in their missions.
