President Salih: Iraq's foreign policy is based on having further balanced relations, supporting regional and international cooperation is vital to addressing the challenges presented by terrorism, economic effects and climate changes


On Tuesday, May 17, 2022, the President of the Republic of Iraq, Barham Salih received the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassadors. Those are the Canadian Ambassador, Gregory Galligan, the Chinese Ambassador, Tsui Wei and the Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Kazem Al Sadeq. The meeting was held at al-Salam Palace in Baghdad.

Iraq in its foreign policy adopts balanced relations based on boosting political, economic and trade cooperation, President Salih said while having separately meeting with the Ambassadors.

 Our policy is based on working toward bridging differences and easing tensions in the region, where these could be achieved through having further dialogues, he added.

International and regional cooperation is vital to meet the immediate global challenges, the President continued, first and foremost among which are the fight against terrorism and extremism and addressing economic fluctuations, health crises and the climate change that threatens the entire world.

His Excellency President Salih wished the Ambassadors would have every success in discharging their missions in Iraq, in the ways that would enhance the ties between Iraq and their countries.

The Ambassadors, in turn, emphasized their countries' eagerness to further develop relations with Iraq across all the fields.
