Iraqi President: Vital to Promote Relations of Cooperation between Iraq and the European Union

On Tuesday, October 25, 2022, the President of the Republic of Iraq, Abdullatif Jamal Rashid met with the European Union's Ambassador to Iraq Ville Varjola.

Mr. Varjola congratulated His Excellency on being elected Iraq's new President and wished him all the best and every success in discharging the tasks entrusted to him.

Moreover, he underlined the European Union's eagerness to foster ties of friendship and cooperation with Iraq across all sectors.

Iraq's President, Abdullatif Jamal Rashid underscored the importance of promoting ties with European Union states, chiefly in cultural, economic, and security areas.

Meanwhile, he hailed the efforts made by the European Union in the fight against terrorism in terms of military assistance and intelligence.

President Rashid thanked Mr. Varjola for his kind words of congratulations. I stand ready to support Ambassador Varjola's efforts to serve the country's supreme interests and the European Union states, he said.
