2023/01/10

On Tuesday, January 10, 2023, the President of the Republic of Iraq, Abdullatif Jamal Rashid met with the British Ambassador to Iraq, Mark Bryson-Richardson, at the Baghdad Palace.

During the meeting, His Excellency President Rashid spoke about the inspection tours to Basra and Nineveh to examine the current security situation, and state of public services as well as follow up on the achievements made in developing infrastructure, universities, courts, roads, and bridges.

President Rashid noted the government's approach to ensuring continuous improvement in security and economic sectors. It is crucial to support investment and the private sector, enacting required legislation, and providing facilities, just as it is vital to improve infrastructure and render the necessary services for the citizens, HE added.

However, there is a need to remain focused on the efforts made to create the right and optimal conditions that would allow the displaced persons to retune to their homes, put an end to their sufferings, as soon as possible, and solve their issue, once and for all, President Rashid affirmed.

Ambassador Richardson reiterated the United Kingdom’s commitment to a secure and stable Iraq, further promoting Iraqi-British relations, cooperation, and friendship at every level and fostering economic growth, social progress, and moving ahead in the process of building and construction.
