President Rashid Meets Accredited Ambassadors to Iraq
The President
of the Republic of Iraq, Abdullatif Jamal Rashid met with a number of
accredited ambassadors of Asian Countries and Russia, at the Baghdad Palace.
At the outset of the meeting, His Excellency
President Rashid welcomed the Ambassadors, stressing the importance of
expanding the means of cooperation between Iraq and their respective countries,
to realise the progress and well-being that the peoples aspire to.
During the extensive talk with his guests,
His Excellency highlighted that Iraq is entering a new phase, which is free
from terrorism, violence, and wars, and stated: "I hope that you will
carry this message to your countries".
President Rashid said that Nineveh and other
Iraqi provinces enjoy security and stability after some of them have suffered
from being controlled by the criminal groups of Daesh in the past. The local
population accesses public services and continues to improve, while Baghdad is
enjoying stability and security.
The President emphasised that we have good
relations with our neighbours including Turkey, despite having some lingering
issues on borders and transboundary water flow. We hope that these issues will
soon be addressed, further improving relations between the two countries.
Speaking about his participation in the World
Economic Forum's Annual Meeting 2023, in Davos, His Excellency said that
attending heads of state expressed their desire to build close relations with
Iraq, and during our participation in Sharm El-Sheikh Climate Change Conference
and Arab League Summit in Algeria they expressed their support for Iraq's
security and stability.
Iraq's current government has a comprehensive
programme to improve the standard of living and deliver better public services,
His Excellency President Rashid continued to say, that the national budget is
going to be approved soon, we have plans to resolve the housing issues, as well
as strategic long-term plans set in motion including the construction of the
industrial city, Grand port of Faw project and the project of oil and gas
production.
Speaking about the relations between Erbil
and Baghdad, the President asserted that there is a good relationship between
the two sides, and there is a common desire that viable solutions to the
outstanding issues must be found in accordance with the Iraqi constitution and
law.
The ambassadors thanked and appreciated His
Excellency for the warm reception, and they emphasised their countries'
eagerness to strengthen the bonds of friendship with Iraq across all sectors,
in ways that would most serve the peoples' interests, and the progress and
prosperity that they aspire to.
