The President Meets Kurdistan Regional Parliament's Delegation

On Tuesday, January 24, 2023, the President of the Republic of Iraq, Abdullatif Jamal Rashid met with a delegation of the Kurdistan Regional Parliament, at the Baghdad Palace.
Recent political developments in the country in addition to the Kurdistan Region were discussed during the meeting and His Excellency President Rashid emphasised the importance of joining forces and unifying the visions to confront the common challenges facing the country.

Protracted disputes between Baghdad and Erbil need to be worked out according to the Iraqi Constitution, to serve all Iraqi citizens, The President said, adding that active dialogue is required to achieve this.

His Excellency spoke about the importance of having the national budget approved as it has an impact on the citizens' lives while building, construction, and rehabilitation of infrastructure should be accelerated, he added. He noted the need to implement the ambitious ministerial programmes of the government, especially those directly related to the people's daily needs, and improve the living standards and public services.

Continuous coordination and dialogue between Kurdish political parties is a matter of critical importance, President Rashid pointed out while saying that the interest of citizens of the Kurdistan region and the rest of the country, must be prioritised.

The visiting delegation hailed the efforts made by His Excellency to bring together the political powers, promote security and stability in the country and improve the standards of living of all the Iraqi people.
