President Rashid: Public Park Must Be Built in Honour of Iraq's Fallen Heroes
On
Wednesday, January 25, 2023, the President of the Republic of Iraq, Abdullatif
Jamal Rashid met with the Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities, Ahmed
Fakak Al-Badrani, at the Baghdad Palace.
It
is vital to establish a public park where statues of Iraq's fallen heroes are
displayed, who sacrificed their lives for the homeland and their values, His
Excellency President Rashid emphasised. A prime location should be chosen to
commemorate all those who made the ultimate sacrifices, he added.
The
President affirmed the importance of opening cultural centres for young people
across Iraqi provinces and reopening public libraries to embrace the youth and
develop their literary, artistic, and sports talents.
There
is a need to advance cultural institutions, His Excellency said while literary
and artistic productions should be supported, to bring back Iraq's role in
enriching the cultural movement.
Mr.
Al-Badrani briefed President Rashid about the plans that the ministry aims to
implement, which would help to improve the cultural activities. He commended
His Excellency's efforts toward supporting culture and intellectuals.
