Iraqi President Receives an Official Invitation to Visit Iran

On Sunday, March 12, 2023, the President of the Republic of Iraq, Abdullatif Jamal Rashid met with the Iranian Ambassador to Iraq, Mohammad Kazem Al-Sadeq alongside his delegation, at the Baghdad Palace.

Ambassador Al-Sadeq presented His Excellency President Rashid with a letter of invitation, which was written to him by Iranian President, Ebrahim Raisi, to visit Iran.

President Rashid expressed gratitude for extending the kind invitation and pledged to take it up at his first opportunity.

Additionally, His Excellency was delighted about the resumption of diplomatic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia, expressing hope that further positive developments at regional and international levels will be reached.

There is a need to further cooperation and joint coordination between the two states, in the pursuit of greater security and stability for the states of the region, the President underlined while continuing to say that tangible steps needed to be taken to halt conflicts and ensure global peace and security.

Mr. Al-Sadeq hailed Iraq's efforts in hosting the rounds of talks that paved the way towards reaching a common agreement on restoring diplomatic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

The Iranian Ambassador affirmed his country's eagerness to further develop cooperation with Iraq, to enhance bilateral ties in a way that serves both nations' interests.
