President Rashid Takes Part in the Opening Ceremony of Barzani National Memorial, Marking Passing of Legendary Leader, Late Mullah Mustafa Barzani

On Thursday, May 11, 2023, the President of the Republic of Iraq, Abdullatif Jamal Rashid met participated in the opening ceremony of the Barzani National Memorial, which includes a museum, gallery hallway, library, mosque, and an auditorium, to commemorate the passing of the Kurdish legendary leader, the late Mullah Mustafa Barzani.

Upon arriving at the Barzan Area, His Excellency, President Rashid was welcomed by Mr. Masoud Barzani, the Leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, and then His Excellency laid a wreath at the late Mullah Mustafa and he recited Al-Fatiha in the memory of the late Leader.

 President Rashid's speech follows:

"In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Mr. Masoud Barzani, the Leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party,
Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am delighted to be here with you today and to take part in this opening ceremony of the Kurdish Legendary leader, the late Mullah Mustafa Barzani's Museum and I would like, from the depth of my heart, to thank all the brothers and sisters who are working on the success of this installation and commemorating the passing of the immortal leader, the late Mullah Mustafa Barzani.

 Dear Brothers and Sisters,
 The history of our nation is full of glory, and during decades of our national struggle, the greatest leaders, influencers, and heads of leadership have emerged at the battlegrounds of the struggle, and owing to these greatest heroes, the path of the national struggle to attain the legitimate rights of the Kurdish people has been continued.

 Such as other nations, we have the right to be proud of our leaders, who have dedicated their lives to their nations in the time of national struggle, and it is therefore, we have brightly to keep going on the right trajectory that these greatest leaders had taken, and our generation and the next must be informed about their struggle.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Our country and the region, in general, faced enormous challenges, where our region and country have been plunged into wars causing political instability and further deterioration in relations, but now we are enjoying a healthy political atmosphere, and this also includes amicable relations between Erbil and Baghdad and reaching a positive understanding between both governments, and we seek to take the use of this advance stage of the smooth ties to bring views closer together and to be engaged in further peaceful and fraternal dialogue to rebuild our country.

It is time that Iraqis of all backgrounds have to be away from political disputes. They must work on creating optimal economic and political conditions, where stability could prevail for the sake of our generation and the next. To do so, we must use the country's wealth to develop strategic and investment projects across all sectors, adding to rehabilitating infrastructure and meeting the legitimate rights of all Iraqi people and the future they aspire to.

There is no doubt that there is goodwill between the Central Government and the KRG to promote the national dialogue, resolve the lingering issues and settle the political issues and work on forming a new political program, guaranteeing the Kurds' constitutional rights and ensuring that Iraq's Kurdistan Area would be a strong factor in Iraq's present and future.

Ultimately, I deem it necessary to say that as Arab and Kurds, we share the same fate. The best proof of that is the past stages which showed us that there is no peace in Iraq without reaching cooperation with Kurdistan Region, and vice versa, economic stability in the Kurdistan Region couldn't be achieved without the Federal government. However, dialogue, political settlement and agreement should be taken as important factors in shaping Iraq's new policy which serves all citizens as well as working together to overcome the challenges and build the country.

Wish you all the best and every success, and thank you again for this blessed step to commemorate the death of the Kurdish legendary leader, the late Mullah Mustafa Barzani.

While taking a tour of the museum, His Excellency President Rashid recorded his greetings in the guest book as he offered congratulations on the opening of the museum, and he hailed the efforts in establishing this museum, which is the record of Mullah Mustafa Barzani's struggle and the Kurdish people as well.
