The President Welcomes Parliamentary Legal Committee's Delegation

On Wednesday, May 24, 2023, the President of the Republic of Iraq, Abdullatif Jamal Rashid met with the Head of the Parliamentary Legal Committee, Mr. Ribwar Hadi Abdulrahman alongside his delegation, at the Baghdad Palace.

President Rashid emphasized the Iraqi Parliament's key role in enacting important legislation and laws, stipulated by the Constitution, and directly affecting the citizens through improving the living standards and rendering better public services.

His Excellency ordered the members of the President’s Consultative Body members to help the legal committee prepare the bill’s language for a legislative package, which is necessary to fill the legislative vacuum.

The Decree issued by the resolved revolutionary command council must be reconsidered, President Rashid went on to speak about, the efforts made by the Presidency of the Republic to follow up on the arrested and detained persons' cases and those who have already served their sentences in the jail.

The head of the delegation asserted that cooperation and coordination with the Presidency of the Republic are paramount to enacting the draft bill as it has a right to submit the laws.  

Furthermore, he highlighted that the Committee will work on reconsidering the decree issued by the resolved revolutionary command council, and the Joint Commission will conduct its work next week.

The Legal Committee is ready to discuss the Supreme Council for Water's draft legislation, sent by the Presidency of the Republic, and it will coordinate with the Committee on Agriculture, Water and Marshes for this end.
