During his Meeting with Oglu…The President of the Republic: Water is a Vital and Crucial Issue for the Population of Iraq

H.E. Dr. Barham Salih the President of the Republic stressed that water is a vital and crucial issue for a huge number of the population of Iraq, calling for strategic agreements on it.
While receiving at the Presidential Office in Baghdad , this afternoon, Thursday, October 11, 2018, Mr. Mouloud Zhaoshoglu, the Turkish Foreign Minister and his accompanying delegation, His Excellency stressed Iraq's keenness to develop the historic and vital good-neighborly relations between the two countries in all fields and his pursuit to build balanced and fruitful relations with Turkey and all neighboring countries on the basis of mutual interests and respect for national sovereignty, idicating that regional cooperation in the face of terrorism constitutes a solid guarantee for the protection of international peace and security.
The Turkish Foreign Minister conveyed the congratulations and greetings of H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan the Turkish President to President Barham Salih. The President asked Mr. Oglu to convey his greetings to President Erdogan as well as his wishes for Turkey's progress and prosperity ad for relations between the two countries steadily development and to continue consultation and understanding at all levels
His Excellency stressed the keenness of Iraq to develop its historical and vital relations with Turkey and its friendly people, emphasizing the need for permanent strategic agreements on water, considering that the issue of water is a vital and crucial issue for the huge numbers of the population of Iraq between Anbar and Basra.
President Barham Salih asserted his country attaches priority to strengthen bilateral relations and joint security and economic interests through the joint committee of the two neighboring countries and the permanent consultation on regional and international issues. He expressed confidence in the ability to make Iraqi-Turkish relations a source of good and stability for the whole region I indication to the strategic location of mediation and integration in the region between the two countries.
For his part, the Turkish Foreign Minister has focused on his country's readiness to develop constructive strategic relations with Iraq in the field of water and all other fields and its interest in supporting its unity, and sovereignty and Turkey's solidarity with all components of the Iraqi people. He indicated that constructive cooperation between the two countries is positively reflected on achieving common interests and contributing to entrenching security and stability in the region.
